Our family has always had a passion for inner-city youth. In fact, my wife Stephanie, and I met in our church youth group while working for a children's outreach program in the housing projects of Dallas, TX. We were later called to Miami, FL, where we spent nearly nine years and had the privilege of directing "Sidewalk Sunday School" and the "Miami Kid's Choir". Over the years we have seen God transform "hopeless" youth into men and women of God. We know that God can and will reach anybody anywhere. However, we are also convinced that we must not wait to get involved in the lives of children. Most of America's urban youth are already living with a lifetime of pain and regret. We believe in the hope that every child has the ability to live a drug free, sexually pure, successful life in Christ. LIFE BUILDERS is committed to seeing that realized in as many young people as possible.

Pedro Leon was raised in "Overtown", Miami's most notorius Ghetto. After getting into trouble with the law at the age of 15, a judge gave him the option of moving in under LIFE BUILDERS care or going to jail. That was six years ago and Christ has changed his life dramatically. He is now a vital part of the ministry and God is using his testimony to reach inner-city youth.

What exactly does LIFE BUILDERS do?
Our goal is to give urban youth a chance to get out of their surroundings long enough to deal with some of the issues that face most of them on a daily basis. We do this through weekend discipleship camps that focus on small groups and our annual LIFE CAMP that brings a larger group together for the Spring Break week. We use team building activities, intimate small group devotions, intense prayer, and anointed worship.

Where are the kids from and who is it for?
We are located two hours NW of Miami in Lake Placid, FL. Our program however, is open to any Inner-city ministry or Church. Our goal is to give those ministries that are on the front lines a helping hand in discipling their youth and children. Many of today's modern youth conferences and camps can be costly and are usually not designed with inner-city ministries in mind. We simply want to supplement the work that is already taking place in ministries all over America's ghettos.
